Sinch, a leading cloud communications platform-as-a-service (CPaaS) provider, has formed a strategic partnership with Aduna to enhance and expand the global network API ecosystem. Aduna, a network API joint venture supported by major global telecom operators and Ericsson, aims to simplify access to advanced mobile network capabilities. The partnership follows recent industry developments, including similar initiatives by French mobile operators to strengthen network security and authentication services.
The partnership, announced for September 2024, will focus on strengthening Sinch’s Number Verification API offerings and streamlining developer integration through standardized interfaces, including TMF Operate APIs. The standardization effort comes at a crucial time, as recent research has identified critical API vulnerabilities affecting thousands of companies in telecom networks. The collaboration encompasses key developer platform partners such as Vonage and Google Cloud to drive innovation and operational efficiency for enterprises requiring secure digital infrastructure.
Aduna’s platform enables seamless access to mobile network capabilities, particularly in authentication and security functions. Through this partnership, businesses can embed scalable, secure communications directly into their digital services, supporting critical functions including two-factor authentication (2FA), identity verification, and fraud prevention. These capabilities are increasingly important as countries like India implement extensive measures to combat mobile-based fraud.
“Our partnership with Aduna is a significant step forward in unlocking the full potential of network APIs,” said Sean O’Neal, Chief Product Officer at Sinch. “Together, we are empowering enterprises to strengthen security and streamline critical digital services, such as authentication and identity management. As security demands grow, integrating scalable network capabilities through standard APIs will be vital in staying competitive in the digital economy.”
“The collaboration with Sinch as a partner will be a crucial step for the success of Aduna,” said Anthony Bartolo, CEO of Aduna. “We are removing significant barriers for developers eager to harness the full potential of mobile networks. The planned integration of Sinch’s expertise and reach will enable developers across leading platforms to access advanced network capabilities globally via common APIs.”
As a key contributor to the CAMARA initiative, an open-source project led by GSMA and the Linux Foundation focused on standardizing network APIs for global adoption, Sinch brings expertise in API integration, security, and developer onboarding to accelerate industry adoption. The initiative supports broader industry efforts to create standardized, secure network APIs, as demonstrated by recent GSMA Open Gateway developments in the European market.
