The Václav Havel Airport in Prague is overhauling its passenger screening infrastructure with help from SITA. To that end, SITA has installed 35 TS6 Kiosks at the airport to provide travelers with better self-service and mobile screening options.
The TS6 Kiosk is an Automated Border Control (ABC) device that allows passengers to check in on their own when they arrive at the airport. Airports can then update the Kiosks in the future to add biometric capture and receipt printing capabilities, amongst other features. Those that do so will be able to integrate the Kiosks into the rest of the airport journey, enabling touchless mobile and/or biometric scans at baggage drop, security, and boarding gates.
The Kiosks themselves were introduced in late 2020, and are fully compatible with the SITA Flex passenger processing solution. Václav Havel Airport is deploying them as part of a broader digital transformation, and will allow passengers to use them while flying with any airline.
Václav Havel is the biggest airport in the Czech Republic, and has been recognized for its forward-thinking approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airport already has ACI Airport Health Accreditation, and received the organization’s Voice of Customer Award for its efforts in 2020. Václav Havel has also picked up several Airport Service Quality Awards for delivering an exemplary customer experience.
“This investment in our terminal infrastructure is as much about today’s requirements as it is about preparing us for a new automated and more digitalized passenger journey in the future,” said Prague Airport Director of Operations Martin Kucera. “SITA has offered us a long-term solution that allows us to bring even better customer experience to our passengers while using the maximum functionality of the technology implemented at Prague Airport.”
“Airports must manage the current financial strain from low flight volumes while also readying themselves for future sustainable growth,” added SITA Europe President Sergio Colella. “We’re proud to support Prague Airport in addressing both challenges.”
SITA has encouraged members of the European Union to use Automated Border Kiosks to meet the incoming Entry and Exit requirements for the Schengen area. The company is also working with NEC to develop new mobile screening solutions.
