“…Synaptics said it will “position India to develop leading-edge human interface solutions to support the growing consumer IoT market — notably Smart Homes — and will serve as a hub to support both global and South-East Asia markets.””
California-based device interface specialist Synaptics has launched a new development center in India that will focus on Internet of Things solutions, the company has announced.
Complementing an existing operations center in Hyderabad, the new ‘design center’ in Bengaluru will have capacity for a staff of 150, with 65 engineering and support staff in place at the outset. The 21,000 square foot facility features various labs, work stations, meeting rooms, and a cafeteria and recreation room.
In a statement announcing the new facility, Synaptics said it will “position India to develop leading-edge human interface solutions to support the growing consumer IoT market — notably Smart Homes — and will serve as a hub to support both global and South-East Asia markets.”
Synaptics’ announcement of the development comes soon after a quarterly update depicting the toll of an increasingly competitive mobile market with respect to Synaptics’ fingerprint sensor technologies, but also rising activity in the company’s Internet of Things business. The company’s CEO, Rick Bergman, predicted that the IoT would help to drive Synaptics’ growth in the second half of this year.
