“Leveraging mobile and cloud technologies at every access point, from turnstiles and elevators to doors, is a crucial part of creating a truly connected security experience in today’s smart building.” – Michael Chaudoin, Vice President, Product Management and Marketing, Extended Access Technologies business unit, HID Global
HID Global has engineered quite a coup for this year’s ISC West security conference, announcing at the show’s outset that it has teamed up with six of the world’s top turnstile manufacturers, each of whom will showcase its mobile access technology during the event.
It’s an achievement that HID Global reached in collaboration with Essex Electronics, whose new iROX-T reader features iCLASS SE technology from HID Global, as well as support for Bluetooth Low Energy, NFC, and OSDP communications. The iROX-T reader has been integrated into turnstiles offered by Alvarado, Automatic Systems, Boon Edam, Gunnebo, Orion Entrance Control, and Smarter Security; and HID Global says each has tested and certified its Mobile Access solution for use with their turnstiles, allowing end users to gain access using their smartphone as an ID card.
In a statement announcing the development, HID Global VP Michael Chaudoin explained that together, his firm and Essex Electronics are “solving the challenge of increasing turnstile security with a solution that enables secure access using credentials provisioned to a user’s mobile phone,” adding, “This will help people move more efficiently through the hustle and bustle of busy building lobbies.”
It’s a message that should be made perfectly clear to attendees at ISC West, with HID Global asserting that each of its turnstile partners will showcase the mobile access solution from their booths. The security conference officially kicks off today in Las Vegas, and will run until April 12th.
