Trulioo is making a major play in the cryptocurrency space. The company has announced partnerships with six cryptocurrency stakeholders, and revealed that it will be providing GlobalGateway identity verification services for all six of those clients.
Centbee, GMO Trust, Omni Matrix, Skilling, Strike Protocols, and Vintech Capital are the six cryptocurrency companies that have joined Trulioo’s client roster. Of those, Centbee is a South African merchant and international payment specialist, while Skilling is a Scandinavian company that lets users trade cryptocurrencies and other assets. Omni Matrix is similarly a cryptocurrency exchange, though it focuses primarily on Bitcoin.
GMO Trust is a stablecoin issuer with a strong emphasis on GYEN and ZUSD, and Strike Protocols is a financial services provider that gives customers access to cryptocurrency assets through more conventional capital markets. Finally, Vintech Capital is a digital currency exchange geared towards institutional traders.
GlobalGateway, meanwhile, is an identity verification service built to prevent fraud and ensure regulatory compliance. The service cross-references a user’s personal information with more than 400 other data sources to make sure that the information is legitimate. It can also verify the authenticity of an identity document, and compare a selfie to the photo on that document to ensure that they are a match. In doing so, GlobalGateway allows organizations to comply with international Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering regulations.
“The pandemic democratized the world of financial services, helping casual or novice investors explore financial trading online,” said Trulioo CEO Steve Munford. “With cryptocurrencies becoming mainstream, digital asset issuers and exchanges understood the need to bolster their identity verification programs to securely and seamlessly onboard a huge uptick in users while meeting compliance obligations.”
Trulioo has already established itself in the remittances sector with five new GlobalGateway partnerships that were announced in September. GlobalGateway has been approved as an identity verification method for age restricted services in Germany, while Trulioo itself was valued at more than $1 billion after bringing in $394 million in Series D funding back in June.
