Trustonic is teaming up with Huawei to improve app security on the latter’s smartphones. To that end, Huawei will integrate Trustonic’s Trusted Application Protection (TAP) solution into its own hardware-backed iTrustee Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).
The combination will allow Huawei to create a secure ecosystem on its latest devices. That, in turn, will make it easier for third party developers to protect the personal information of the people using their various apps. The feature is the result of a year-long collaboration between Huawei and Trustonic, and will debut on Huawei’s flagship P40 Series of smartphones, which will come with built-in support for Trustonic’s TAP SDK.
“The TAP development platform gives application developers access to the advanced security features that they need to bring trust to app users across billions of smartphones worldwide,” said Trustonic CEO Dion Price. “This will bring hardware-backed security to an even wider range of applications and services.”
Trustonic’s TAP platform can be used to for a variety of purposes, including mobile payments and digital identity. The company has previously provided TAP protection for a Korean mobile banking app, and recently renewed its security partnership with LG. It also published a white paper to help companies that are struggling to understand the certification landscape.
