Kentucky-based Veridocs has announced enhancements to its Evolution identity assurance platform, adding new capabilities for mobile driver’s license (mDL) reading and facial recognition. The upgrades come in the form of four modules designed to improve identity verification processes, particularly in the gaming and casino industry where the company has a strong focus.
The mDL Authentication module enables Veridocs scanners to read mobile driver’s licenses in the same way they scan physical IDs, reflecting the growing adoption of digital identification across various states. The Facial Comparison module uses a webcam to match the face on an ID with the face of the individual presenting it, enhancing the accuracy of identity verification.
Additionally, the Mobile Verification module allows for ID verification using a mobile app, offering flexibility for remote or on-the-go scenarios. The Document Imaging module is intended to scan and store important documents related to an individual, such as signed contracts, for easy retrieval and record-keeping.
Veridocs was founded in 2005 and has been dedicated to providing identity solutions that quickly and reliably authenticate patrons in the gaming and casino sector. In 2022, the company launched its Evolution platform along with TrueListReview, a system to help operators monitor various watchlists.
The official announcement of the new modules at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas highlights the industry’s move toward advanced biometric technologies. According to Veridocs President and CEO Joe Oprosko, the expanded Evolution platform allows customers to be more confident that individuals meet established criteria for entry or purchase.
The adoption of mobile IDs is gaining momentum in the United States, with 11 states having launched mDLs accepted by the Transportation Security Administration at certain airports. States like Arizona, California, Colorado, and New York are among those embracing this technology. Over 20 other states are exploring or implementing mDL technology, and several have integrated driver’s licenses and state IDs into digital wallets like Apple Wallet.
