ID R&D has found a new customer for its Acoustic Event Detection technology, which will be integrated into Wavio’s SoundAI platform. First announced back in March, Acoustic Event Detection allows any device with a microphone to detect and identify a range of ambient sounds, including sirens, barking dogs, breaking glass, and calls for help.
Many of those sounds require an immediate human response, which is an issue for the deaf and hard of hearing. Wavio was founded specifically to address that problem. SoundAI allows connected devices to serve as the person’s ears, sending an instant notification to the user if the microphone picks up certain sounds and improving reaction times in an emergency.
The integration of ID R&D’s machine learning technology will enhance SoundAI’s accuracy and performance while expanding the library of sounds the software is able to recognize. It will also allow Wavio to offer support for a greater number of platforms. SoundAI is compatible with iOS, Android, and Linux, and the module can be installed on smartphones, smart speakers, voice assistants, and other IoT devices.
The partnership will allow SoundAI users to add new sounds to increase the utility of the platform over time.
ID R&D recently landed $5.7 million in series A funding, and offers voice recognition tech that can identify a user with only two seconds of natural speech.
