Government agencies and contractors now have a line of YubiKey devices designed just for them.
Called the YubiKey FIS Series, the new line of security keys is compliant with Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2, a certification needed for use by many government agencies and partners collecting and transmitting sensitive information. That means individuals working in organizations that adhere to these guidelines can use Yubico‘s new line of security keys for authentication on PCs and laptops, adding extra security to their work processes.
In a statement announcing the new product line, Yubico noted that the YubiKey FIPS Series comprises the only FIPS-certified multi-protocol security keys that support five authentication protocols: FIDO U2F, PIV, OpenPGP, OATH-HOTP/TOTP, and Yubico OTP.
Commenting further, Yubico Product SVP Jerrod Chong asserted that “FIPS 140-2 is one of the most recognized government certification programs for a security product,” adding that the YubiKey FIPS Series is “a major milestone for Yubico and our customers”.
The new product line is available now through Yubico’s online store, and includes the YubiKey FIPS and YubiKey Nano FIPS keys for USB-A ports, and YubiKey C FIPS and YubiKey C Nano FIPS devices for USB-C ports. The products are FIPS 140-2 compliant at Overall Level 2, Physical Secuirty Level 3.
