Yubico is launching a new service platform that was designed to help enterprises with their YubiKeys. The appropriately-named YubiEnterprise Services is available through Subscription and Delivery models that will make it easier for large organizations to adopt hardware-based authentication practices.
To that end, a business with a YubiEnterprise Subscription will be able to purchase new YubiKeys for a fixed per month and per user fee. When doing so, they can choose from any YubiKey in their subscription tier. They can also reassign an existing YubiKey to a new user, or swap an old YubiKey for a newer version like the YubiKey Bio or the YubiKey 5C.
The Subscription service is reserved for large enterprises, and requires a minimum of 750 users for an initial order.
YubiEnterprise Delivery, on the other hand, is a slightly more accessible offering. The platform is essentially a distribution service that will deliver YubiKeys to domestic and international locations, which makes it a convenient option for people working from home. A company’s IT department can place orders and track shipments with APIs that can be integrated into their existing infrastructure, or with Yubico’s cloud-based self-service console.
“YubiEnterprise Services take the planning, budgeting, and logistical complexities out of the equation for enterprises and lets them focus on securely growing their core business,” said Yubico Chief Product Officer Guido Appenzeller. “Customers don’t need to think about which YubiKeys they’ll need, how many, or how they’ll be distributed. They simply request a subscription for a certain number of users, and Yubico handles the rest.”
YubiEnterprise Subscription is currently available in the U.S. and Canada, while YubiEnterprise Delivery will begin in the second quarter of 2020. Both services will eventually be introduced in Europe and other regions internationally.
Yubico is unveiling its new service platform shortly after the release of an updated PIV Tool 2.0 that allows organizations to program and manage large numbers of YubiKeys.
