“The companies said that they anticipate initial trials with some of those leading banks to begin in the first quarter of next year…”
A new corporate partnership has given Zwipe a foothold in the Philippines market for biometric payment cards. The company has teamed up with Allcard, a Mastercard- and Visa-accredited, end-to-end card solutions provider with its own local production facility.
In a statement announcing the partnership, Allcard CEO Allieta Cue explained that her firm believes “the future of payment cards in the Philippines will be biometric,” adding, “We have the 10th fastest growing economy in the world with a young and growing population of over one hundred million people and we are committed to investing in innovation.” Allcard’s product portfolio, Cue said, would be “significantly strengthened by integrating Zwipe’s unique technology platform”, noting that the firm’s clients are “the biggest banks in the country”.
The companies said that they anticipate initial trials with some of those leading banks to begin in the first quarter of next year, with Zwipe CEO Andre Løvestam asserting, “we are optimistic that commercial orders will come in H2 2019.”
In announcing this latest partnership, Zwipe is building on strong momentum this month, in which the company has also announced the appointment of a new head of certification, a new fingerprint enrollment solution for biometric card issuers, and a technological improvement that had dramatically improved its biometric card solution’s power efficiency.
