Zwipe is looking to bolster its presence in India and the Middle East through a new partnership and a new executive appointment. In that regard, Masterline will act as the company’s new Strategic Business Partner in India, while Ramzi Saboury will serve as the company’s new General Manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region.
Saboury has particular expertise in the realms of contactless payments and mobile financial services, which was acquired over the course of his 26-year career in the financial industry. He is the former regional GM for Levant at Visa Inc., as well as the former CCO of Areeba.
Masterline, meanwhile, specializes in the sale and deployment of smart card products, and will help Zwipe find new customers for its flagship Pay ONE platform in India and the surrounding region. According to Zwipe, both the partnership and Saboury’s appointment speak to the growing interest in biometric tech amongst the area’s local card issuers and manufacturers.
“Zwipe’s decision to strengthen its position in MENA fits perfectly with the transformations that are taking place in the global payments market,” said Saboury. “I am delighted to have joined Zwipe’s team and I am already busy driving biometric payment cards and Zwipe Pay ONE in a region that is keen for advanced solutions.”
“Ramzi’s expertise in driving payment innovations to successful businesses in the MENA region and Masterline’s formidable track record in scaling smart card products in India and certain MEA markets will be key in accelerating the mass market deployment of Zwipe Pay ONE-powered payment cards,” added Zwipe CEO André Løvestam.
The news should help Zwipe build on its current customer base in the Middle East. The company announced new biometric smart card partnerships with VeriTech and Inkript in the last few months of 2020, and also extended an existing partnership with Areeba.
