Zwipe is teaming up with the Southeast Asian card manufacturer dz card to develop biometric payment cards for that market. dz card will take advantage of Zwipe’s biometric technology and expertise, especially when integrating its biometric payment platform and its user-friendly at-home enrollment services.
The cards themselves are being designed to meet the specific needs of Thai citizens, but will eventually be distributed across Southeast Asia, India, and Africa.
“We have received requests from several large issuers seeking biometric payment cards,” said dz card CEO Renaud Adam. “Zwipe is uniquely positioned to support our customers in introducing, optimizing and scaling up the issuance of this innovative product which makes contactless payment so much more secure.”
“Launching biometric payment cards will be a win for their customers, some of the largest financial institutions in Southeast Asia,” added Zwipe CEO André Løvestam.
The news gives Zwipe yet another partner in the Asian region, adding dz card to a roster that already includes XH Smart and Goldpac. On the European front, Zwipe recently extended its contract with Infineon, while the board of directors announced that the company will be pursuing a listing on the Nasdaq Stockholm First North Growth Market earlier this week.
