There are now over a hundred FIDO Certified solutions on the market, the FIDO Alliance has announced.
FIDO is, of course, the cross-industry cooperative seeking to establish and improve digital identity authentication standards. With a number of newly announced products from big names such as Huawei, EyeVerify, Morpho, and LG, the total number of solutions that have been approved as complying with FIDO standards has now reached more than one hundred, indicating widespread acknowledgment of FIDO standards.
Moreover, these FIDO Certified solutions are coming from leading service providers, including Dropbox, Github, Google, and Samsung; and the FIDO Alliance says that the top five handset makers are now supporting FIDO standards. It’s thanks in part to this kind of support that the Alliance has been called “the most important Identity Management (IdM) consortium” in the industry.
Commenting on its growth in a statement, FIDO Alliance executive director Brett McDowell said that the “explosion of FIDO Certified products and adoption numbers confirm industry-wide endorsement of FIDO as the new strong authentication technology standard.” Indeed, the Alliance says its standards are now reaching hundreds of millions of end users, and that is good news for the whole industry as it’s helping to protect user data and the solutions using it.
