Next year’s 4YFN event will take place under the same roof as the rest of MWC Barcelona. To that end, the GSMA has announced that it is moving 4YFN from the Fira Montjuïc to the Fira Gran Via, which will serve as the primary venue for MWC Barcelona programming in 2021.
According to the GSMA, the decision to move was based on the success of the virtual GSMA Thrive series of events, which have encouraged the organization to re-examine its approach to live programming. The GSMA regards 4YFN is an essential platform that is responsible for driving innovation in the GSMA and the mobile industry at large. As a result, it deserves just as much of a spotlight as the core MWC Barcelona conference.
“We believe that 4YFN is a key innovation platform and that start-ups will play a critical role in a global economic recovery,” said GSMA CEO John Hoffman. “Bringing 4YFN and MWC together means we can add greater value to attendees and exhibitors of both events, to foster more opportunities to interact, learn and network to industry leaders.”
The GSMA was forced to cancel this year’s MWC Barcelona conference due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, and would later go on to cancel both MWC Los Angeles and MWC Shanghai for the same reason. However, the organization has already extended MWC Barcelona through to 2024, and is currently planning to return to live programming in 2021.
Next year’s MWC Barcelona is scheduled to run from March 1-4.
