“The Taiwan launch arrives in the same week that Android Pay made its Canadian debut, and a week after it launched in Russia.”
Google is crossing another name off its hit list of new markets with the launch of Android Pay in Taiwan.
The service launches in the region with the support of Visa and Mastercard, and CTBC and First Bank, with Google assuring prospective users that support from additional banks is in the pipeline. Official merchant partners include CrazyMike, Watsons, Starbucks, and many more.
The Taiwan launch arrives in the same week that Android Pay made its Canadian debut, and a week after it launched in Russia. All three countries were recently cited by Google as forthcoming markets for Android Pay, alongside Brazil and Spain, where it has yet to launch.
Android Pay arrives in Taiwan a little behind its rivals Samsung Pay and Apple Pay, which debuted in the island nation earlier this month and in March, respectively.
