AMREL has announced the launch of what it’s calling the “world’s first personalized, rugged Android tablet.” Dubbed the Flexpedient AT80, the device is built to last.
It meets the MIL-STD 810G military standard for durability, and even attained an IP67 rating. It’s tough, in other words. But it’s also surprisingly sleek in design, weighing only 1.65 lbs with a thickness of less than an inch.
The Flexpedient AT80 has a number of other advanced features, too, of course, including an 8″ touchscreen display, 5MP cameras on the front and back, GPS, Bluetooth, and an Android 4.3 OS. It’s also is built for customization, allowing for additional functionalities like fingerprint sensor technology to be added to the off-the-shelf model.
The most important thing is the ruggedness, though. AMREL specializes in durable mobile hardware, and aims to market such devices to a range of sectors, from military deployments to the insurance industry. The latest tablet is also being aimed at everyday users simply looking for a strong device that won’t need to be repaired or replaced anytime soon.
