The KSI-1700 UB keyboard was first unveiled several weeks ago, and features an embedded fingerprint sensor provided by SecuGen, the FAP 20 certified SecuGen U20. Precise Biometrics’ contribution comes by way of liveness detection technology it acquired when it bought NexID earlier this year. The software solution has now been dubbed Precise BioLive, complementing Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile and Precise BioMatch Embedded algorithm software solutions.
The KSI-1700 may represent a promising new trend for Precise Biometrics and other biometrics specialists, coming in the wake of a recent biometric keyboard from Microsoft. With the latter targeting everyday consumers and the former aimed more at security-sensitive enterprise applications, the devices could reflect a growing demand for embedded biometric security in PC products across sectors.
News of the integration comes soon after Precise Biometrics issued a white paper on the growing importance of anti-spoofing and liveness detection technologies as fingerprint recognition technology is increasingly used to verify identities across a range of applications, a concern shared by security experts and leading academics in the field.
