User Experience Called Key to Success of Canadian Mobile Connect

EnStream LP is celebrating the Canadian Mobile Connect project’s nomination for a GSMA Global Mobile Award (or “Glomo” Award).

EnStream is a joint venture comprising Canada’s biggest telecoms, Bell and Rogers, as well as national MNO Telus, and was established to lay the groundwork for digital services and payments infrastructure in the country. Its Canadian Mobile Connect is an authentication service aimed at leveraging smartphones for customer registration and all identity verification, and was developed with the help of Ubisecure and MePIN. It’s currently in a pilot testing phase across the country.

While it’s still in a relatively early stage of development, the platform has already been nominated for a Glomo Award in the category of “Authentication and Identity”. In a statement announcing the nomination, EnStream, MePIN, and Ubisecure executives all stressed the importance of the user experience in the project, with MePIN CEO Markku Mehtälä calling it “the key to a successful online identity service.”

The Glomo Award winners will be announced through this year’s Mobile World Congress, which will run from February 27th to March 2nd in Barcelona.
