The National Association of Federal Credit Unions has awarded Daon with the 2016 NAFCU Services Innovation Award. The honor was bestowed in recognition of Daon’s IdentityX platform, a multimodal biometric system that has offered particular benefits to the credit union industry, with deployments such as its highly successful integration into USAA’s mobile app.
In a statement, NAFCU Services President Randy Salser said that “Daon has taken the financial services sector by storm,” adding that the Innovation Award illustrates “why the leading minds in banking, payments, and data security are choosing to partner with Daon.” Indeed, while NAFCU is of course primarily concerned with credit unions, Daon’s platform has proven popular in financial services more broadly, with MasterCard using it as the basis for its Identity Check selfie authentication system, and a recent major mobile app deployment announced for Gulf Bank Kuwait.
For NAFCU’s part, its enthusiasm for Daon was evident prior to the award, as the organization invited Daon Americas President Conor White to speak at NAFCU’s annual conference. Commenting on the recognition, Daon CEO Tom Grissen said his team is “delighted and humbled”, and said they “look forward to continuing to bring credit union members a faster, more convenient, and secure way to authenticate.”
