“The move comes soon after the firm added support for facial recognition to its Mobile Smart Credential and Mobile Soft Token systems, thanks to technology provided by FacePhi.”
Entrust Datacard has joined the FIDO Alliance.
In a statement announcing its new membership, Entrust Datacard framed the move as part of a larger business strategy, calling it “another step toward addressing the full range of its banking, Government and enterprise customer needs while augmenting its support for open standards”. Elaborating further, Entrust Datacard Global VP of Authentication Ryan Zlockie said, “Adding FIDO compliant solutions to our suite as another authentication option allows us to offer the most comprehensive authentication platform on the market.”
The move comes soon after the firm added support for facial recognition to its Mobile Smart Credential and Mobile Soft Token systems, thanks to technology provided by FacePhi.
It also comes amid growing enthusiasm for FIDO’s authentication standards, support for which is built into a growing number of products and services. And with FIDO’s standards poised to guide many businesses through the introduction of new data privacy and security regulations in the European Union next year, Entrust Datacard’s membership in the organization could help it to find more customers in that market in particular.
