“The consortium plans on engaging in several activities in order to encourage the use of FIDO authentication…”
The FIDO Alliance has announced the launch of the FIDO Korea Working Group, a specific task force created to increase awareness and integration of FIDO authentication standards in the Korean marketplace. Aiming to eliminate the password with strong online authentication, the FIDO Alliance’s specifications champion device-based biometrics and second-factor authentication.
FIDO Korea Working Group will engage with Korean communities, both locally and nationally, encouraging Korean customers to securely take part in the connected economy.
“FIDO Authentication has had a fast start in Korea, and it is imperative that we continue that growth by engaging at the local level to ensure our standards address the evolving authentication needs of this innovative market,”said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance. “This new regional working group will better enable the Alliance to engage the newly-elected government that is particularly proactive on cybersecurity regulation and policy.”
The consortium plans on engaging in several activities in order to encourage the use of FIDO authentication including: communication within the existing Korean authentication industry; collecting requirements from the Korean industry and government, while working with policy makers to ensure FIDO solutions meet regulatory requirements; encouraging collaboration within the Korean companies by organizing those interested in or participating in the FIDO Alliance; creating and developing FIDO International materials in or to Korean; and promoting global and local FIDO Alliance meetings.
Since the launch of the FIDO Alliance, Korea has become a leading adopter of FIDO authentication, and the FIDO Korea Working Group’s aims and objectives takes advantage of a momentum to engage the country and encourage it to implement the FIDO standards that continue to be widely adopted across industries.
