On Monday Android users in Asia got a quick fix for their fingerprint sensor craving that resulted from last weeks still very talked about Apple Touch ID announcement in the form of FingerQ from World Wide Touch Technology (WWTT). Available in sleeve or key form and operating via micro-USB connection, Finger Q products are mounted on smartphones that run on Android OS and give them the capability to authenticate users by leveraging FPC1080A swipe sensor module from Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC).
With its ability to encrypt information in multiple formats (text, audio, video, photo, etc), FingerQ users can have access control on their mobile devices, safely guarding sensitive information under biometric lock and key.
After touching on the global demand for privacy solutions, Kelvin Wong, WWTT’s president and CEO commented on FingerQ deployment, “We begin in Asia and will deploy the service globally. We selected FPC1080A due to its total superior performance. We expect fast growing sales during 2014 and beyond.”
This launch marks FPC’s first consumer product launch in China, one of many markets being focused on by the Swedish sensor manufacturer as it expands into Asia over the coming months, not just with its constant stream of design wins, but also with an aggressive recruitment campaign in the region.
