Swedish biometric sensor manufacturer Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC) has just announced that an as of yet anonymous smartphone OEM – described as among the top three manufacturers in China – has selected the FPC1020 capacitive touch sensor for its upcoming flagship mobile device.
FPC has been making the news with large orders of the FPC1020 in association with a previous design win that will see the touch sensor on a flagship smartphone being launched this summer from a tier one American OEM. With this news design win in China, it is becoming more clear that the company’s decision to throw its weight behind touch tensor technology was a smart one.
The fact that the sensor was chosen by a Chinese OEM also is in line with what we’ve been seeing from FPC. Asian markets have been an aggressive focus of the company’s since last summer.
This newest win for Fingerprint Cards bolsters the company’s predictions that it will ship massive numbers of the sensor by the end of 2014.
