FPC Sensors On Three QiKu Smartphones

August 26, 2015

9436_fingerprint-cards_fingerprintcardslogo China-based smartphone maker QiKu has integrated Fingerprint Cards (FPC) fingerprint sensors into three new mobile devices. Dubbed Professional, Flagship, and Young, they are the first of QiKu’s mobile devices to use fingerprint sensors.

It’s no great surprise that QiKu opted to go with FPC for its first step into mobile biometrics. Over the last several months, through its partnership with biometric software developer Precise Biometrics, Fingerprint Cards has quickly become a leading sensor supplier in the Asia-Pacific region, so much so that it recently had to bump up its revenue guidance for the year from SEK 2.2 billion to SEK 2.5 billion. Given that so many other prominent China-based smartphone makers are already relying on FPC technology for their devices’ biometric capabilities, FPC would appear to be a natural choice for a company just getting into the game.

In a statement, FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto expressed pride on behalf of the company over the integrations, calling QiKu “a prominent smartphone manufacturer in China”. He also demonstrated pride in FPC’s technology, noting that the FPC1025 sensor used in the devices “supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality.”
