Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has received another major order for its FPC1025 fingerprint sensor. The company’s newest client is a large distributor, World Peace Industrial Group (WPI), and deliveries will start during the second quarter of this year.
The order is valued at 110 MSEK, and will see the sensors distributed to smartphone makers based in China. In a statement, FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto said the latest order is indicative of a growing trend in the company’s business dealings. It’s actually the third order the company has received for its FPC1025, and he said the deals “show that our partners are increasingly going to use FPC1025 for deliveries to smartphone manufacturers in China.”
The orders are also increasing in value. The second FPC1025 order the company received, announced only last week, was valued at 90 MSEK, while the first order placed the week before that was valued at 75 MSEK.
It’s clearly a good time to be distributing mobile biometric technology to China. With a number of mCommerce/mPayment platforms slated for launch in the region this year, smartphone makers large and small appear to be keen to get this kind of technology into their devices as soon as possible.
