Moreover, the country has a high cell phone penetration rate – even compared to the high standards found in many other African countries – at 90 percent.
Gemalto has been enjoying increasing revenues from mCommerce securitization, and has also been a high-profile organization in the growing area of contactless payment. With mobile commerce on the rise globally, and biometric security consequently becoming standard on mobile devices, Gemalto may be in a good position to benefit from what could be a booming regional market.
