Alibaba Group, the parent company of the Alipay mobile payment platform, is getting into Internet of Things infrastructure, and Gemalto is providing a helping hand. The companies have announced a new partnership in which Gemalto’s Allynis Trusted Services Hub is being used to ensure security on Alibaba’s YunOS platform.
YunOS is basically an IoT operating system. It’s cloud-based, and it’s designed to provide the soft infrastructure for chips, sensors, and devices associated with the IoT. Gemalto’s Allynis Trusted Service Hub will be used to enable the “easy provisioning of security sensitive applications throughout the identity lifecycle management” of YunOS, according to a statement from Gemalto.
It’s perhaps one of the most high-profile integrations yet of Gemalto’s Allynis platform, which is also being used to support a mobile car key solution from Valeo and Carrefour’s mobile payment solution. It could see many more such integrations as the IoT continues to unfold.
