“The Android biometrics support arrives long after Malauzai started supporting Touch ID login on the iPhone, a feature that officially launched on its SmartApp platform early last year.”
Malauzai Software, an Austin, Texas-based digital banking solutions provider, is bringing biometric login to Android users of its mobile app solutions. The functionality will leverage Android’s native fingerprint scanning support, allowing any user of an Android device with an embedded fingerprint sensor to login with a simple fingerprint scan.
In a statement announcing the move, Malauzai Data Center Operations VP and Chief Information Security Officer Sean Darragh asserted, “Adding biometrics for Android provides an increased level of protection and security for all mobile users, regardless of platform.”
The Android biometrics support arrives long after Malauzai started supporting Touch ID login on the iPhone, a feature that officially launched on its SmartApp platform early last year. Nevertheless, it reflects the growing popularity of mobile biometrics, especially in the financial services sector, with increasing numbers of organizations opting to let users log in via fingerprint scan, and other modalities poised to play an important role going forward.
In a statement, Malauzai did not offer a specific launch date for the Android fingerprint authentication feature, but said it will arrive “for Android 7.0 users this year.”
