All week Mobile ID World and our sister site FindBiometrics have been in Copenhagen for Money20/20 Europe. The cutting edge FinTech conference made its debut in Europe this week and brought with it a tidal wave of news, announcements, and demonstrations related to mobility, identity, and biometrics.

Money20/20 – On The Stage

The main stage at Money20/20 Europe was host to a number of exciting announcements and presentations this week, particularly involving mobile wallets. Here are some of the big ones:

On day one, Anne Cairns, president of International Markets at MasterCard, took the keynote stage to talk about the company’s role in spreading financial inclusion around the world, some of the challenges in the endeavor, and the technologies that are enabling it.
Day two was all about mobile wallets. Google’s director of emerging platforms, Spencer Spinnell, represented Android Pay and made a good case for the platform’s existence.
Sabrina Peng, President, Alipay International, Ant Financial Services Group, announced AliPay’s expansion into Europe…
AliPay is planning to target two billion people withing the next five to ten years, Peng told CNBC.
Samsung Pay was looking good at the conference, represented by VP Elle Kim. Fresh off its launch in China, Samsung Pay is expected to see further expansion into Brazil this summer in time for the Olympics.

Money20/20 – On Our Panel

On day three of the conference, Mobile ID World president Peter O’Neill to the stage with an expert panel to once again discuss the role of biometrics in the next generation of financial services.

The biometrics panel was titled: “Biometric identity and its applications in financial services and payments”
The panelists and their illustrated avatars.
The dynamic discussion gave the audience a glimpse into the future of biometrics, identity, and FinTech in Europe.

Money20/20 On the Floor

Money20/20 Europe wasn’t all talk either. The showroom floor had its share of action, with demonstrations of new financial, mobile, and identity technologies. Take a look at who was there:

AliPay was the talk of the conference after Sabrina Peng’s keynote.
According to Samsung Pay VP Elle Kim, Samsung is currently working on next gen biometric sensors to protect mobile transactions.
Daon is becoming a staple of biometric FinTech thanks to its collaborations with USAA, MasterCard, and Atom Bank which takes advantage of the IdentityX platform.
MasterCard Identity Check, otherwise known as Selfie Pay, is already slowly being rolled out after successful trials in the US and the Netherlands.
Morpho (Safran) was demonstrating its Scan & Pay biometric payment solution at Money20/20 Europe, which leverages its contactless MorphoWave fingerprint reader.
HSBC had a major presence at Money20/20 Europe. The financial institution has recently embraced fingerprint and voice biometrics for a variety of authentication purposes.
