Given FPC’s announcement today that its FPC1155 has been integrated into Meizu’s new Pro 5 smartphone, it’s a good bet that this is the device in question.
Precise Biometrics‘ Precise BioMatch Mobile technology has been integrated into another smartphone from a China-based smartphone maker, the company has announced.
As usual, Precise Biometrics has not named the new device or its maker, but it has noted that the integration occurred via partner sensor maker Fingerprint Cards (FPC). Given FPC’s announcement today that its FPC1155 has been integrated into Meizu’s new Pro 5 smartphone, it’s a good bet that this is the device in question.
Further building the case is Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson’s assertion in a press release that his team is “pleased that the supplier has chosen to integrate Precise BioMatch Mobile in another of its smartphones,” suggesting that the OEM is a repeat customer. That’s certainly the case with Meizu, which also integrated an FPC sensor into its MX5 smartphone earlier this year.
The integration follows closely on the heels of another announced just a couple of weeks ago – the integration of Precise BioMatch Mobile into the ivvi K2 smartphone. It’s a strong line of business for Precise Biometrics as well as FPC, with this latest deal expected to boost revenues for the third quarter of this year.
