SRI’s Iris Biometrics to Appear in Samsung Mobile Devices

March 26, 2015

SRI B2B Iris Tablet_702x437[2]SRI International’s Iris on the Move (IOM) technology is about to see a number of integrations into mobile products. The company’s iris-scanning technology has been licensed to Samsung and will initially appear in the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 tablet before finding other integrations. According to SRI, the product will be introduced in the SIA New Product Showcase at ISC West 2015 and offered worldwide through the company’s partners and resellers.

The company will be showing off its IOM technology at the upcoming SIA New Product Showcase at ISC West 2015, and offering it through its partners globally, with an eye to identity management and security applications, particularly in the fields of workforce management, access control, airport security, and other such areas. According to SRI, its IOM technology is user-friendly, fast and very accurate, with tests having proven it to be over a thousand times more accurate thing fingerprint biometric system.

In a statement, SRI’s president of Products and Solutions, Mark Clifton, said the company’s “next-generation IOM iris recognition solution will create new applications and markets and increase adoption in existing markets.”

While the company’s IOM has previously attracted interest from a number of high-profile clients for large-scale deployments in the areas of border patrol and access control, its integration into mobile devices could prove a major win-win for both companies. Samsung has a mobile payment platform in the works, and will very likely be interested in biometric security to ensure its users are safe and comfortable using it. Iris on the Move is sure to garner some positive attention as it appears at ISC West and in more and more mobile devices.
