Valencell Grows Along With Wearables Market

December 7, 2015

Valencell Grows Along With Wearables MarketAs the wearables market continues to grow, so too does Valencell. The biometric sensor maker is reporting a 133 percent growth in licensing for this year over 2014.

That’s a 133 percent increase, with 2015 being the second year in a row that Valencell has enjoyed triple digit growth in licensing its PerformTek technology. The biometric technology can measure various cardiac metrics including heart rate variability and efficiency, and has been implemented in a number of wrist-based wearables including the Atlas Wristband and the Sona Connected Bracelet from Caeden. PerformTek technology is now supporting products from 25 licensees in total.

Valencell is also touting its growth in granted patents. This year, the company saw 12 patents added to its IT portfolio, marking 70 percent growth in this area.

In a press release, the company gave some credit to overall growth in the wearables market, citing IDC data indicating that in Q3 of 2015, 21 million wearable devices were shipped; this figure itself marks 197.6 percent growth over Q3 of 2014.
