“Our retail accounts look to Aluratek to bring them innovative products rooted in cutting edge technology and design. We are pleased to launch our relationship in Best Buy and look forward to expanding BIO-key’s retail footprint over the remainder of 2018.” – John Wolikow, CEO, Aluratek
BIO-key International announced today its latest partnership aimed at bringing biometric access control to the masses. The New Jersey based company has teamed with consumer tech provider Aluratek to bring BIO-key TouchLock products to major retailers, starting with Best Buy.
BIO-key’s TouchLocks are specialized consumer-grade padlocks that replace the need for a key or combination with fingerprint biometrics and remote Bluetooth access. TouchLock solutions include standard smart lock, heavy duty (XL), and TSA approved travel padlocks, as well as a bike lock version.
According to a press release announcing the partnership, Aluratek already placed initial orders for TouchLock Smart Lock and TouchLock TSA products which were “placed at Best Buy and the Best Buy Online Store during the second quarter.”
“Placing our TouchLock product line in major brick and mortar retailers has been a major priority for BIO-key,” said BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale. “Aluratek is an ideal partner to achieve this goal on a national basis as they have built such a strong track record of success in developing and marketing technology-based products to a who’s who list of retailers, including Best Buy.”
BIO-key’s TouchLock solutions are a key part of the company’s business strategy as outlined in an April revenue guidance call. The Aluratek partnership is the latest in a series of announcements from BIO-key illustrating its progress in making the biometric locks available to consumers. In June, for instance, Asahi Cycle Co. agreed to sell the TouchLock Bike bicycle lock solution. Later, in July, at the Design Tokyo expo, BIO-key launched two new versions of its TouchLocks: the TouchLock TSA Pro luggage lock and the TouchLock Bike Pro.
