The virtual care specialist VeeMed is partnering with BioIntelliSense to gain more insight into patient health. To that end, VeeMed will be integrating BioIntelliSense’s wearables and data platform with its own Software-as-a-Service offering.
The arrangement will allow doctors to monitor the health of their patients in real time, and allow them to respond more quickly in the case of an adverse health event. BioIntelliSense’s FDA-approved BioSticker and BioButton can be worn directly on the body, and capture metrics like temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate on an ongoing basis. That data is then consolidated and sent to VeeMed for further analysis.
According to the two companies, the arrangement will improve VeeMed’s Remote Patient Monitoring capabilities. In the past, the company could only capture patient health at a specific point in time. The BioIntelliSense wearables provide more dynamic feedback that gives doctors a more complete understanding of a patient’s status.
“Traditional RPM is like a photograph, providing a snapshot of a patient’s health, as opposed to our continuous data service, which is like a high resolution 4K video that offers a composite view,” said BioIntelliSense CEO James Mault.
“Our partnership with BioIntelliSense enables us to give patients the freedom and flexibility to receive medical grade remote care, but with the same level of confidence they would have if they were at a clinic or physician’s office, or even in the hospital,” added VeeMed President and Chief Medical Officer Arshad Ali. “By giving patients a wearable to capture continuous vital sign data, healthcare systems can deliver the absolute, most advanced RPM care.”
VeeMed is not the only organization using BioIntelliSense’s wearables. BioIntelliSense formed a strategic partnership with the American College of Cardiology back in January, and then provided RPM tech for Aloe Care Health earlier this month. The company is also working with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to gauge the effectiveness of cancer treatments.
