“The ranking should help to further illuminate the potential for biometric technology in automotive applications…”
The 2019 Subaru Forester’s biometric technology has helped the car to earn a spot on Parents magazine’s list of “The 10 Best Family Cars of 2019”.
The car was selected in the category of “The Best Two-Row SUVs”, with the family-focused magazine focusing on its Eyesight Driver Assist Technology in its writeup, noting that the system “prevents you from swaying into other lanes.” This safety system operates in conjunction with the Forester’s DriverFocus feature, which uses face biometrics technology to scan a driver for signs of fatigue or distraction; if such signs are detected, it will activate Eyesight Driver Assist, leveraging its cruise control, breaking, and lane assist technologies to avoid potential collisions.
In a statement announcing the acclaim for Subaru’s vehicle, Parents magazine Editor in Chief Liz Vaccariello emphasized the importance of safety in the editorial considerations. “In developing this list, we wanted to evaluate what’s important to families at a level that exceeds other car rankings,” she explained. “This meant understanding the fundamental features needed in a vehicle, while also keeping in-car entertainment, and of course, safety top of mind.”
The ranking should help to further illuminate the potential for biometric technology in automotive applications as car makers and components suppliers increasingly look to biometric approaches to security, convenience, and the driver experience more generally.
