IDEX Biometrics will be providing the fingerprint sensors for new biometric smart cards from Quest Payment Systems. Quest is an Australian provider of payment technology solutions, and will integrate IDEX’s design inlay and dual-interface fingerprint sensor into smart cards destined for the Asian and Australian markets.
“We are excited to be working with IDEX Biometrics on the next generation of smart card technology,” said Quest CEO Jan Mason. “Our experience in payments and loyalty cards, coupled with IDEX’s biometric capability, will deliver a vastly improved retail experience for our customers.”
IDEX will begin shipping the fingerprint sensors in the second quarter of 2020. The Quest news comes shortly after IDEX’s third quarter update, which was particularly bullish on the company’s prospects in the payment card space. IDEX recently agreed to provide biometric sensors for new ID cards from DongWoon, and previously partnered with Silone Cardtech to develop biometric smart cards for the Asian market.
The new deal with Quest should strengthen IDEX’s foothold in the APAC region, with IDEX already providing fingerprint technology for smart cards from Chutian Dragon and Hengbao. The company also has its eye on the US after making its debut on the OTCQB Venture Market exchange earlier this week.
