“The partnership arrives at the one-year anniversary of Samsung Pay in Australia, which has already has the support of major domestic banks Citi and Westpac, as well as American Express.”
A new partnership with prominent payments services provider Cuscal is substantially expanding Samsung Pay’s reach in Australia.
Cuscal counts 38 financial institutions among its clients, including Credit Union Australia, People’s Choice Credit Union, and Teachers Mutual Bank. It says its network of clients will enable Samsung Pay for about 1.7 million cardholders.
Commenting in a statement, Samsung Australia Mobile Division VP Richard Fink said, “Every partner we bring onboard, whether it be a financial institution or retail brand through our Samsung Pay loyalty functionality, brings us a step closer to helping customers replace their wallets with their Samsung smartphone or smartwatch.”
The partnership arrives at the one-year anniversary of Samsung Pay in Australia, which has already has the support of major domestic banks Citi and Westpac, as well as American Express. It could help to give Samsung Pay an edge against its main competitor, Android Pay, which launched in the country with limited bank support soon after Samsung Pay.
