“It all adds up to greater value for the FIDO authentication brand.”
There are now 335 FIDO certified products, the FIDO Alliance has announced.
Among the companies celebrating newly certified products are FacePhi, with its UAF certification for its Selphi facial recognition platform; and HYPR, which received certification for the server component of its biometric authentication platform; as well as AhnLab, Dayside, Mobile-ID Technologies and Services Joint Stock Company, Shenzhen Excelsecu Data Technology, and Smart Technologies Investment and Development Co. These latest certifications come in the wake of particularly high-profile support from the likes of Facebook and Google earlier this year.
It all adds up to greater value for the FIDO authentication brand. In a statement announcing the latest round of certifications, FIDO advised certified organizations to use the FIDO logo in their marketing. “Overwhelmingly, we hear from deploying organizations that they are looking for that logo when reviewing spec sheets, brochures and websites, and visiting trade shows,” FIDO said.
The new milestone reflects considerable momentum in the spread of FIDO standards, with the consortium having seen a 200 percent increase in FIDO certified products last year. As awareness around digital security continues to grow, FIDO could be on track for another blockbuster year in 2017.
