Precise Biometrics has established a new partnership with a hardware maker. The company has signed a licensing agreement to provide FocalTech Systems with its Precise BioMatch Mobile technology.
In a statement announcing the agreement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson called FocalTech “one of the leaders in multi-touch technology and touch panel controllers.” That description might make FocalTech sound like an odd choice for a licensing client, but the company is in fact going to use Precise BioMatch Mobile for its own mobile solutions aimed at the Chinese market. Commenting on the agreement, FocalTech President MC Liao said it enables his company “to target the fast growing market for fingerprint technology in mobile devices in China.”
Precise Biometrics has established itself as a leading supplier of fingerprint biometric software for mobile devices in large part thanks to its partnership with Fingerprint Cards (FPC), but this year it has been expanding its roster of hardware partners. This past May the company announced an deal with Silead, and earlier this month it entered into an agreement with Shanghai OXi. This latest deal with FocalTech should help to further expand Precise Biometrics’ presence in the industry and leverage a growing market.
