ForgeRock, an enterprise-focused identity and access management specialist, has upgraded its flagship mobile app.
The revamped Authenticator App brings a number of improvements, including streamlined login and navigation processes and new biometric lock options. Its capabilities are also available in the form of an SDK, allowing ForgeRock clients to develop their own, custom mobile apps for onboarding and authentication.
Identity verification methods supported by the SDK include time-based one-time passcodes, push notifications, and passwordless authentication options. The platform also offers support for multi-factor authentication.
“MFA and passwordless authentication significantly reduce the attack landscape,” explained Mary Writz, ForgeRock’s VP of Consumer Identity and Access Management. “Our new app is designed to reduce the number of steps users must take to authenticate without compromising security to make the login experience both simple and safe.”
ForgeRock’s Authenticator App upgrade suggests a strengthening focus on mobile identity and access technologies. The company is best known for its overarching Identity Platform, which gained support for behavioral biometrics in 2020, care of TypingDNA.
The ForgeRock Identity Cloud platform, meanwhile, attained SOC Type II Certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants toward the end of last summer.
With the enterprise sector showing a growing appetite for identity and access solutions that go beyond password-based security, ForgeRock has managed to attract significant investor interest in recent years. Riverwood Capital led a $93.5 million Series E funding round in 2020 that featured contributions from Accel, Foundation Capital, KKR Growth, and Meritech Capital.
ForgeRock’s upgraded Authenticator App is available through the Apple App Store and the Google Play app store.
