Fingerprint Cards is now an affiliate member of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition, the company has announced.
The EICC is a nonprofit coalition of retail, electronics, automotive, and toy companies founded in 2004. Its aim, according to the EICC’s website, is to support “the rights and wellbeing of works and communities worldwide affected by the global electronics supply chain.” Over 110 companies are members of the EICC, including big names like Best Buy, Ford, Intel, and Qualcomm; and the EICC says that over 3.5 million people around the world are involved in making its members’ products.
In a statement announcing Fingerprint Cards’ new membership in the organization, the company placed a strong emphasis on the EICC’s sustainability work. Angelica Berg, FPC’s Head of Sustainability, said the company sees the EICC “as an important organization within the field of sustainability”, adding that because many of FPC’s customers and suppliers are in the electronics industry, “we share some of the same challenges that EICC focus on.”
Indeed, two FPC clients that launched new smartphones at IFA Berlin last week, LG and Lenovo, are both IECC members, as are multiple other electronics makers that use FPC technology.
