FPC Fingerprint Sensor Tech Used in Two New Xiaomi Devices

Fingerprints (FPC) has kicked off the new year with the announcement of two new smartphone integrations of its fingerprint sensor technology.

Both of the integrations concern smartphones from Xiaomi. One, the Redmi Note 7, features an FPC1511 fingerprint sensor; while the other, the Xiaomi Play, incorporates an FPC1028 sensor. Xiaomi is a longtime customer of Fingerprints, having seen integrations into multiple devices over the past year.

“We are very proud to provide world class biometrics for Xiaomi,” Fingerprint Cards commented in a statement announcing these latest integrations.

News of these latest mobile integrations comes after an announcement from Fingerprint Cards about a month ago concerning a smartphone integration with “a major Japanese OEM”. Such mobile integrations appear to remain central to Fingerprints’ business, even as the fingerprint sensor specialist seeks to expand into new areas such as biometric payment cards.
