July 21, 2017

“For store customers, they just need to enroll their payment cards online, with Gemalto’s TSH platform turning their card credentials into tokenized data stored on Samsung’s mobile payments platform.”

Customers of El Corte Inglés, Spain’s largest department store, can now upload their Financiera El Corte Inglés payment cards to Samsung Pay thanks to Gemalto’s Trusted Services Hub and the PURE payment networks service for private-label card issuers.Gemalto TSH Brings El Corte Inglés Payment Card to Samsung Pay

In a statement announcing the support, Gemalto said it makes Financiera El Corte Inglés “the first private label card provider in Spain to adopt Samsung Pay.” For store customers, they just need to enroll their payment cards online, with Gemalto’s TSH platform turning their card credentials into tokenized data stored on Samsung’s mobile payments platform.

Gemalto added that for El Corte Inglés customers, Samsung Pay offers convenience and the ability to “authenticate transactions instantly and securely using biometrics.” Samsung Pay allows users to confirm their payments with fingerprint scans or even iris scans supplemented by facial recognition via the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge smartphones.
