Goodix Provides Fingerprint Sensor, Smart Audio Tech for OnePlus 8 Series

April 16, 2020

Biometrics News - Goodix Provides Fingerprint Sensor, Smart Audio Tech for OnePlus 8 Series

Goodix has provided a collection of technology solutions for the recently announced OnePlus 8 Series of smartphones. The OnePlus 8 Series includes the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro, both of which feature Goodix’s flagship in-display fingerprint sensor alongside Goodix’s smart audio amplifier and smart noise suppression offerings.

The news speaks to the ongoing popularity of Goodix’s fingerprint sensor, which has been featured in a slew of new smartphones over the past few months, including the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition. It also reflects the growing popularity of Goodix’s audio offerings. The in-display sensor was paired with the smart audio amplifier in the Redmi K30 Pro and the Huawei P40 series, while OPPO’s Find X2 series took advantage of smart noise suppression.

Of course, the OnePlus 8 Series takes that a step further with the inclusion of all three technologies. The smartphones support both face and fingerprint recognition.

The announcement reinforces the ongoing relationship between Goodix and OnePlus, which has featured Goodix sensors in its previous two generations of smartphones. However, it is worth noting that the Max Tech YouTube channel was able to spoof the sensor in the OnePlus 7 Pro with some tin foil and some glue in a video that was released in May.
