The GSMA has shared more details about its upcoming MWC Barcelona event. MWC 2022 is set to run from February 28 to March 3 at the Fira Gran Via, and will feature more than 1,000 speakers and 1,500 exhibitors.
The programming content, meanwhile, will cover a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence, FinTech, and the expanding IoT and 5G ecosystems. Guests will be able to see demos of new enterprise technologies at the new Industry City exhibit, or get a look at the start-up scene at the 4YFN (Four Years From Now) Summit. That Summit will feature more than 500 forward-thinking start-ups from all over the world, of which 200 are expected to compete for as much as €4 billion in investment funding from funds and venture capitalists.
Other highlights include the GSMA Ministerial Programme and the Diversity4Tech Summit. The former will give policymakers the opportunity to discuss issues like digital inclusion and climate change, and the impact that tech can have in that regard. The latter, on the other hand, will underscore the importance of diversity in technology development. Guests of the Summit will be treated to talks and panels in addition to an awards presentation.
MWC Barcelona will also feature 37 country pavilions. The GSMA’s Committed Community health protocol will be in effect to maintain a safe environment during the pandemic.
“We’re looking forward to spirited discussions, powerful keynotes, and seeing the very best of innovation at MWC22,” said GSMA CEO John Hoffman. “This year you will hear from many industry leaders with one thing in common. Mobile technology is driving their transformation. To continue on this journey, they will use this week to collaborate, share insights, accelerate real change and conduct business.”
The theme for MWC Barcelona is Connectivity Unleashed. The GSMA used CLEAR’s Health Pass app to screen vaccine and COVID-19 test credentials at MWC Los Angeles in October.
