HID Global has announced a new provisioning solution for its HID goID mobile identity platform.
Called the goID Gateway, the solution essentially gives government bodies the ability to choose between contracting the management of their encrypted mobile ID provisioning to HID Global, or to opt for their own provisioning services. Additionally, both on-premise or cloud-based approaches are supported. And end-to-end encryption is used to secure the digital credentials’ data.
In a statement announcing the goID Gateway, HID Global revealed that it has already been embraced by the Tanzanian government for the provisioning of mobile-based virtual passports. In that case, government authorities have opted to have the provisioning operated by authorities within the country.
The provisioning solution arrives amid growing excitement around mobile ID technology, with discussions of mobile and eID taking the stage at this week’s Money20/20 event in Las Vegas.
