Humanity Protocol has exceeded half a million users and is partnering with universities worldwide to facilitate on-campus registration for its blockchain-based digital identity system. Founder and CEO Terence Kwok shared that the company plans to deploy palm vein scanning devices to simplify the enrollment process, with the first batch of devices set to roll out by early 2025.
This decentralized approach, featuring university partnerships, aims to provide more convenient registration opportunities compared to dedicated enrollment centers used by other digital ID providers.
Beyond individual identity verification, Humanity Protocol’s partnerships may offer additional benefits to universities. Kwok noted that the system could streamline the issuance of graduation certificates and transcripts directly onto the blockchain, reducing paperwork for academic verification.
The protocol is also exploring applications for event access, enabling credentials for conferences and other gatherings to replace traditional tickets.
Looking ahead, Humanity Protocol plans to release personal biometric enrollment devices, allowing users to register through their smartphones.
The company’s rapid expansion reflects substantial interest in blockchain-based digital identity, with its user base surpassing 500,000 shortly after the launch of its testnet. Kwok emphasized that while World, a competing biometric ID project, has enrolled millions over the past year, Humanity Protocol’s early growth offers optimism for broader adoption.
