“The firm’s platform, CloudGate UNO, now supports the FIDO Alliance’s FIDO2 authentication standard, and ISR says it will distribute YubiKey 5 Series devices to its clients.”
A major identity and access management specialist is poised to help spread the proliferation of FIDO2 standards through Yubico’s latest security keys.
The company, International Systems Research Co. (or “ISR”), offers a cloud-based platform that is popular in the Japanese market, with the company claiming a network of 1,500 clients and 750,000 end users. The firm’s platform, CloudGate UNO, now supports the FIDO Alliance’s FIDO2 authentication standard, and ISR says it will distribute YubiKey 5 Series devices to its clients.
It’s the latest development in a longstanding relationship between the companies, which first partnered in 2014 to bring One-Time Password-based authentication to the Japanese market. In the ensuing years, ISR has embraced new Yubico devices along with FIDO Alliance standards for its CloudGate UNO platform, so its leap to FIDO2 and YubiKey 5 Series devices is a logical progression.
First announced in September, the YubiKey 5 Series includes four specific security key devices. YubiKey 5C and YubiKey 5C Nano are designed to plug into a device’s USB port and allow the user to confirm that they are present with the device through a simple tap, while the YubiKey 5 NFC and YubiKey 5C Nano security keys can pair with a given device wirelessly.
