“…IDEMIA’s Smart Connect Entitlement solution is a cloud-based solution designed to help mobile operators to quickly and cost-effectively perform authentication for device subscriptions, entitlement authorization, notifications, VoWiFi and VoLTE management, and more.”
IDEMIA has firmed up its leading position in the emerging Internet of Things market through an expansion of its partnership with Deutsche Telekom. The latter has opted to use IDEMIA’s Smart Connect Entitlement solution, part of its Smart Connect Platform, to support the growing ecosystem of eSIM-enabled devices.
eSIM technology is designed to enable the remote programming of SIM subscriptions, eliminating the need for a SIM to be physically removed from a smartphone or other device when mobile services are changed. As such, it’s an increasingly popular component of the growing number of connected devices comprising the Internet of Things, such as wearables like smart headsets and earbuds.
This is great news for consumers and mobile operators alike, but it also requires some upgraded infrastructure for the latter. To that end, IDEMIA’s Smart Connect Entitlement solution is a cloud-based solution designed to help mobile operators to quickly and cost-effectively perform authentication for device subscriptions, entitlement authorization, notifications, VoWiFi and VoLTE management, and more.
In a statement announcing Deutsche Telekom’s embrace of this solution, the company’s VP of International Technology & Services Data, Hans-Artur Panse, explained that “customers expect to connect their devices easily” as mobile tech without physical SIMs becomes more common. “The Entitlement Service is one prerequisite for providing such an automated and enhanced user experience,” he said. “We are happy to extend our partnership with IDEMIA by the installation of a central Entitlement Service solution for our European NatCos.”
The development builds on a previous collaboration between the companies in which Deutsche Telekom opted to use IDEMIA’s SM-DP+ eSIM subscription management solution, and given the former’s prominence as one of the world’s major telecommunications giants, this expansion is another indication of IDEMIA’s advancing role in the larger eSIM and IoT markets.
